NUYU clinic is a menopause service that not only aims to provide professional, knowledgeable consultations but also create a community with a sense of belonging and support.
My name is Louise Hughes and I’ve been a qualified nurse for over 25 years. During my profession I have developed a real passion for women’s health with a focus on the menopause. This led me to train and develop as a British Menopause Society Advanced accredited menopause specialist.
And this is where my passion started…
knowing I had the knowledge, skills, experience and desire to help women feel at their happiest and healthiest during the menopause transition with the ability to function at their fullest potential in life.
Our Services
Workshops
Knowledge is Power – by educating women and enabling them to understand the menopause, we can improve their knowledge and understanding of the impact it can have on their lives. A change to the equilibrium can have a massive implication on our physical, emotional, mental and social health. Understanding what is happening is the key to taking control of our own health and well-being.
Treatments
The menopause is a given – a natural process that happens to 50% of the population however, nature is not always kind and by replacing hormones we become deficient in during the menopause can significantly improve quality of life by alleviating symptoms and providing beneficial protective factors for long term health. This can be achieved through a combination of Hormone Replacement Therapy and lifestyle interventions.
Education
Statistics show 60% of women report the menopause having a negative impact on the workplace. Providing education in the workplace helps reduce barriers and foster a more inclusive and open culture. Allowing women to feel happier and more engaged in the workplace has been shown to reduce sickness and improve employee retention. NUYU has the knowledge and skills to provide bespoke, tailored packages of training sessions for businesses to educate and support both female and male colleagues.
1-2-1 Consultations
NUYU clinic offers one to one consultations in a relaxed, professional, confidential clinic. I know only too well the pressures the NHS face so providing women the precious element of time allows them to tell their story and feel they are being listened to and supported. The ultimate aim is to positively transform the lives of women through a holistic approach. Care delivery is high quality, safe, effective and evidence based. Women will have a thorough assessment resulting in advice, support, treatment options and a detailed written management plan.
Support Groups
& Group Sessions
NUYU aims to create spaces where women feel they can seek help for their menopause which can often be daunting and overwhelming with lots of conflicting information and advice. Women I meet often tell me they feel isolated, lonely and confused. Creating a sense of unity and community can provide reassurance and empowerment on the menopause journey through sharing knowledge, stories, advice and support. This can be facilitated as peer support or even within friendship groups.

Initial consultation (face to face or virtual)
Individualised management plan.
6 week follow up 10 minute phone call / confirmation email.
Letter to GP with recommendations.
If blood tests deemed appropriate / required, would be additional cost.
Inclusion of private prescription cost (not including item – option for private pharmacist, approx £14 per item a month).
Follow up consultation (advised at 12 weeks)

Testosterone initiation
30 minute consultation – discussion of suitability for testosterone therapy, initiation, monitoring and management.
Inclusion of private prescription cost (not including item – option for private pharmacist, approx £50 per item).
